Scaffolding refers to various supports erected on the construction site for workers to operate and solve vertical and horizontal transportation. A general term in the construction industry, which refers to the use of external walls, interior decoration or high storey heights on construction sites that cannot be directly constructed. Mainly for the construction personnel to work up and down or to protect the peripheral safety net and high-altitude installation components, etc., to put it bluntly, it is to build a scaffold. The materials for scaffolding are usually: bamboo, wood, steel pipe or synthetic materials. Scaffolding is also used as a template for some projects, and it is also widely used in the advertising industry, municipal administration, traffic roads and bridges, mining and other departments.

         In China, before 1949 and in the early 1950s, the construction of scaffolding was done with bamboo or wood. Since the 1960s, fastener-type steel pipe scaffolding has been promoted.

         Since the 1980s, China has made remarkable achievements in the development of advanced and multi-functional scaffolding series, such as portal scaffolding series, bowl buckle type steel pipe scaffolding series, with an annual output of tens of thousands of tons, and a certain number of Export. For a long time, because the erection tool itself and its construction technology and use safety management are in a relatively backward state, the accident rate is high. Relevant statistics show that about 1/3 of the casualties in China's building construction system are directly or indirectly related to erection tools and their use.

       With the increasing maturity and improvement of China's construction market, bamboo and wood scaffolding has been gradually phased out of the construction market, and is only still used in some remote and backward areas; while portal scaffolding and bowl-button scaffolding are only used in municipal, bridges, etc. Used in engineering, ordinary fastener-type steel pipe scaffolding occupies more than 70% of the domestic market in China due to its simple maintenance, long service life and low input cost, and has a large space for development.
